Details

*Ensure it's your correct size! DO NOT wash the carrier, DO NOT remove the tags before trying it on.  KEEP the product manual and packaging. Exchange can ONLY be done if tags and packaging are still intact and carrier is unwashed.

We know that your day to day doesn't keep you in one place, so why should your baby carrier? Transitioning from indoor air-conditioning to outdoor sun and warmth can be tricky with a baby strapped to you. With the Baby K'tan Breeze you can easily adjust your carrier to accommodate any temperature. Mom or Dad can easily rotate the loops of their Breeze Baby Carrier before placing baby in the wrap. Place the mesh in front or back depending on your needs, providing airflow or warmth wherever desired.

SAFETY Q&A

Is the K'tan carrier safe for my newborn?
Yes! The practice of babywearing keeps babies in the safest place possible -- a parent's arms. Baby's face should always be visible to the carrying adult so that baby’s breathing and positioning can be regularly monitored. Babies are vulnerable in their first few months of life and they require constant supervision, which is why babywearing is a wonderful tool to assist in the well-being of infants.

In order to ensure a safe, comfortable and cozy babywearing experience, be sure to read and follow all warnings, instructions and safety tips found in your manual and online before placing your baby in the Baby K’tan.

My newborn does not yet have head control; what positions can I use? How do I support baby’s head?
The Kangaroo and Hug Positions can be used with an infant that does not yet have complete head control. The fabric of the Baby K’tan can be used to support the back of your baby’s head. After placing your baby in the carrier, spread the fabric at your shoulder to create a head support for your baby. Ensure that the fabric is supporting the back or side of your baby’s head and does not cover baby’s face, nose or mouth.

My baby is itty bitty (under 8lbs.). Can I use the Baby K’tan?
The weight limit on the Baby K’tan Baby Carrier is birth-35lbs, so you can begin using the Baby K'tan right away with a newborn. Be sure to use extra care and safety when using a baby carrier with a newborn infant; ensure that baby's face is always visible, with an open airway, and chin is not pressed into his/her chest. While worn properly, the Baby K’tan carrier can be very beneficial for newborns and Kangaroo Care with preemies. Consult an expert or doctor if your infant was born with a low birth weight, such as a preemie or twins, or if your infant has respiratory illness or other respiratory problems. Extra vigilance is required with these babies.

How do I know my baby is positioned correctly?
Baby carriers are meant to mimic the way you would hold your baby in your arms. Check your baby's position after placing him/her in the carrier by embracing baby in your arms; baby’s position should not shift significantly in your embrace.

Check to make sure you can fit your finger between baby's chin and chest to ensure that baby’s airway is not restricted.

How do I know my baby’s face and neck are positioned correctly?
You should be able to see your baby's face at all times. Make sure that your baby’s face is not pressed into your body or into the fabric of the newborn carrier. Your baby's head and neck should be supported, with baby’s chin off chest. If baby's chin is pressed tightly against his chest, this can restrict baby's airway. When positioned properly, you should be able to fit your finger between baby's chin and chest. Check often to ensure that baby’s airway is not restricted and that baby is breathing regularly. If you hear that your baby is snoring or grunting, reposition baby to a more upright hold.

How do I position baby’s legs for proper hip development?

  • Kangaroo Position: When placing your baby in the Kangaroo hold, baby’s knees should to be tucked to tummy in a “froggy style” position. A simple rule is to keep baby’s legs in the shape of the letter “M”, with baby's bottom making the dip in the middle of the letter and baby’s knees making the two peaks.
  • Hug, Adventure and Two-Hip Positions: When placing your baby in a position where legs are free, baby should be in a natural seated position with knees bent and hips spread – straddling the wearer. Spread the fabric of the Baby K’tan between baby’s legs so that it reaches the bend in baby’s knees.

The International Hip Dysplasia Institute acknowledges the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier as a "hip-healthy" product when used as directed. www.hipdysplasia.org

Once baby is positioned in the carrier, am I done?
No. Babies can shift their positioning in the carrier, especially during walking or movement. Parents should attend to and check on baby often, especially those less than 4 months of age.

Can I safely nurse in the Baby K’tan?
Yes, but please keep in mind that every individual is different and some may find it easier than others. Use extra caution and check on your baby often while breastfeeding in the Baby K’tan Baby Carrier to ensure that baby has a clear source of air. Always move the baby’s face away from the breast as soon as the baby is done feeding. Be sure to reposition your baby to a more upright position after breastfeeding.

Is the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier ASTM tested and CPSC compliant?
Yes, the Baby K’tan Breeze Carrier is ASTM and CPSIA compliant. The Baby K’tan Carrier is tested and approved to the ASTM F2907-15 standard. Baby K'tan, LLC also complies with European standards BS-EN 13209 Part 2:2005.

FAQ

What's the difference between the K'tan and a wrap?
The design! Wraps are made of one long piece of fabric while the Baby K'tan has a patented double-loop design. This allows you to wear the K'tan without any wrapping, while still providing the positions and benefits of a wrap!

Here's a quick video comparison between the two:

What is the age/weight limit of the Baby K'tan?
The Baby K'tan is recommended for use with babies weighing birth-35lbs. (consult your pediatrician for use with preemies). Be sure to follow all instructions and safety tips when wearing your baby in the Baby K'tan.

What size Baby K’tan Baby Carrier should I buy?
The Baby K’tan is offered in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL. Sizing is based on your pre-pregnancy fitted dress size (or jacket size for men). Please refer to our sizing calculator to determine your size. If you are in-between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

I am a plus-size mom. Will the Baby K'tan fit me?
Yes! The Baby K'tan is sized to fit the wearer and we have sizes ranging up to Women's size 22 and Men's Suit Size 50.

Can my partner and I share the same size?
The Baby K’tan is meant to be fitted, like a “snug” t-shirt and a personal item of clothing. Two people can share the infant baby carrier if they are the same size; however, if one size will fit your partner and another would fit you, we recommend that you each purchase your own size in order to have a secure and comfortable fit.

Is the Baby K’tan Baby Carrier adjustable?
The Baby K'tan is a sized item and does not have any buckles, snaps or rings that need to be adjusted. When the correct size is purchased, the Baby K'tan will fit the wearer securely.

Can I breastfeed in the Baby K'tan?
Yes!

Can I carry twins at the same time?
We do not list a Twin Position in the Baby K’tan, per the Baby Carrier Industry Standards which state that baby carriers should only be used for one infant at a time. We would therefore recommend wearing one baby at a time or having a second adult wear the second baby. It is still a great help to be able to wear one baby and have your hands free to tend to the other!

How do I wash and dry my Baby K’tan Baby Carrier?
Our infant baby carriers are made of soft fabrics (no buckles or snaps) and are machine washable and dryer safe. Care Instructions: Machine wash cold, with like colors only. Non-chlorine bleach when needed. Tumble dry low. Wash separately before first use.

Will my Baby K’tan Baby Carrier shrink after washing?
The Baby K’tan Baby Carrier is designed to stretch with use and tighten up in the wash. Accordingly, the carrier may feel a bit snug after washing; however, the cross stretch of the fabric enables the K'tan to stretch back out.

If your infant baby carrier feels a bit snug after washing, this wearing tip video may be helpful:

Is the Baby K’tan Carrier comfortable for my back?
Yes! The patented double-loop design of the Baby K’tan distributes baby’s weight evenly across your shoulders and back, and the back-support band helps the wearer to adjust and center the loops of the carrier. The wide fabric can be spread over your shoulders to further distribute baby’s weight and the included sash can be tied around you and baby for added support.

Is the Baby K'tan good for my baby's hips?
Yes, the Baby K'tan offers ergonomic positions that promote healthy infant development. The wide fabric can be spread open to create an ergnomic and comfortable seat, with baby's legs in an "M" position (fabric reaching the bend in baby's knees, with knees at or above the level of baby's bottom). Once baby's muscles are more developed (6 months or so), you can also wear your baby in the forward facing Adventure position. Be sure to follow the same "M" position tips described above.

Is babywearing good for my baby?
Absolutely! Babies enter the world with fragile, easily over-stimulated nervous systems. Infants that are carried in slings, wraps and infant baby carriers experience the stimulating sounds, sights and smells that their parent experiences, while at the same time being securely swaddled, providing safety and assurance to the infant. Baby carriers offer a gentle way of transitioning your baby from the calm environment of the womb to the busy outside world. Before using any baby carrier, sling or wrap always make sure you consult your pediatrician regarding any health complications your infant may be experiencing. The Baby K’tan Baby Carrier has been endorsed by several medical professionals.

Can I wear my special needs child in the K'tan?
Yes, you can. Children with developmental delays and special needs benefit from being carried close to the wearer, especially during the infant stage. The Baby K’tan creates the ideal environment for development and growth. At the same time, it offers infants a tight swaddled, deep pressure input, providing security and assurance to infants with sensory integration dysfunction and other developmental disorders such as Autism and Cerebral Palsy. Studies have also shown that infants with hypotonia (low muscle tone) are adversely affected by baby carriers that place their legs in excessive abduction (legs spread too far apart) before their muscles are fully developed. With the Baby K’tan Baby Carrier, there is a position where babies can still face forward and see the world while having their legs in a more developmentally appropriate posture.

The Baby K'tan carrier was also developed by two couples trying to find the best babywearing solution for their children with special needs.

Is the Baby K’tan Baby Carrier safe?
Our Baby Carrier is tested for quality and safety under FHSA (Federal Hazardous Substances Act) and ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) guidelines. Read and follow all instructions and warnings before use.

this is my lifesaver when baby refused sleep in his newborn days. baby slept for long hours in it and loves it. it takes a bit of practice to learn using it though

Review by Janice on November 11, 2018

Bought a pupsik sling before but baby k'tan is a better choice. Easier to use and more comfortable for baby.

Review by Joyce on June 25, 2018

This is my second ktan. the mesh lining is logical but might not make that much of a difference because the original ktan material is already so gentle on skin.
